Dr. Amy B. Hietapelto currently serves, since 2021, as the interim Executive Vice Chancellor of the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). Previously, she served at the Dean of the Labovitz School of Business and Economics at UMD (2013-2021). She earned a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Organization Studies) from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She has a Master’s in Business Administration (Marketing) and a Bachelor’s of Science (Psychology), both from Michigan State University.
Dr. Hietapelto serves on multiple boards, including the Depot Foundation, where she serves as Board Chair, and APEX, and is a member of the Arrowhead Growth Alliance. Dr. Hietapelto strongly believes that a vibrant arts ecosystem strengthens a community, and that creative communities have a vitally important role to play in building a more inclusive and fulfilling society for all its members.
